Shoes...

I was walking along with my mom, to the Church. To tell you the fact, I am not used to shoes. But I wore a pretty dress and a red shoes. I was so proud of it, that I looked at it now and then. My dad's colleague met us on the road. Uncle rode a moped. Uncle wanted to take me and his son with him on the moped, leaving Aunty to accompany my mom. As a 7 year old girl, I refused to trust anyone's ability on the vehicle but my father. I said firm 'no' to climb up. But coaxing and pleading, I sat behind him. Within few yards, my shoe strap tangled on the wheel, sucked in my leg too... I was too frightened and screamed with pain. God protected me from the unseen dangers. The scare and memories still fresh within me, yet His unfailing love overshadowing everything. Till today I still suffer cracks and wounds on that place, since it is short of skin. Yet He has been good to me.

I joined AVC College of Engineering in the year 2000. I was asked to wear black rubber shoes for the electrical lab. I have seen many bigger things in the labs, while I was in Polytechnic. Yet, the Lab Technician was very keen on a black rubber shoes, with black sole. I had a black shoes with white sole. I didnt want to buy another one, so just to please him, I sat to paint the white sole with black bril ink. I added little fabric paint so that it would last long. Usually my father would sit beside me on a chair, whether sleeping or awake until I finish my studies in the night. That day he slept, while I painted. We had a couple staying in our guest room for the night. The man went to and fro for umpteen times to the restroom and to the room. But I kept painting, while my father slept beside me. Once the project was over, we went to sleep. I wore the shoes the next day to the college. I left black foot prints on the wooden floor of the lab. Yet I was safe. I realized how safe I was, after 3 days. I received a shocking news that the man, who stayed in our house ( a known fellow for a quite a long years) tried to molest a deaf and dumb servant and a five year old girl in the following two days. God just protected me from all harms and dangers. My father became my assigned guardian angel that day.

The place we stayed during my college days, was infested with all sort of poisonous crawling creatures. Yet God protected us. Final year of the college, I and my friend, traveling in a extra-crowded bus, finally found a place to sit, near a window. We both wearing rubber sole shoes. (Me, still on the painted black shoes) My friend nudged me and said, I feel something in my shoes. I gave her a quizzical look. She slowly bent and removed her shoes, only to find a tiny scorpion, ready to strike, sitting comfortably. We were lucky enough to sit near the window. She gently dropped the scorpion on the road. God protected my friend.

I joined Godfrey in Odisha few days after the wedding. The campus was middle of a jungle. Every morning, Godfrey would pick his shoes to wear. Lo and behold, a big fat frog would give a lazy look. (Ready for a touch from Godfrey to become a prince!!) Every day he would throw him out, but next day he would sit there. One day Godfrey held him in a jar and dropped him 2 km from our home. But next day he was there on the shoe! He would be a juicy snack for a snake, but still God protected us, throughout. And still He does!!

What a mighty God we serve, What a mighty God we serve.
Angels bow before Him, Heaven and earth adore Him
What a mighty God we serve.
